[Ref Pilot’s Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge, FAA-H-8083-25B Page 12-12]

Wind conditions are reported by an arrow attached to the station location circle.

Barb” represents a speed of 10 KT;

half a barb” represents a speed of 5 KT;

pennant” represents a speed of 50KT

 

Notes:

Wind is described by the direction where it is blowing from – for example, “North-West wind” means the wind is blowing from the north-west
